As part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Bellevue University will host a free Lunch ‘n Learn session titled “AI Scams and Deepfakes: Spotting What’s Real Online” on Thursday, October 2 at 12 p.m. CT.
The event will be held in person on the university’s main campus in Room 206 of the Hitchcock Humanities Center, located at 1040 Bruin Blvd., Bellevue, Nebraska. Attendees also have the option to join virtually via Zoom.
All participants—whether attending in person or online—must register in advance using the following link: https://bellevue.zoom.us/meeting/register/ZixuF-giStyxCbpH5K5kLA.
Upon registration, you will receive the Zoom link and additional event details via email.
The session will be led by Dr. Lisa McKee, a Cyber Defense industry expert and Assistant Professor at Bellevue University. Dr. McKee will explain in everyday language how artificial intelligence is being used in online scams—including deepfake videos, AI-generated phishing emails, and AI-driven romance scams. Attendees will also learn practical steps to help protect themselves and their personal information online.
“This session is designed to help people recognize and respond to the growing threat of AI-powered scams,” said Dr. McKee. “Cybersecurity awareness is more important than ever, and we want to equip our community with the tools they need to stay safe.”
The event is free and open to the public.
